Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups quick 1-minute oats

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 strips of orange peel

  • 2 cups cold water

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 cups milk

  • 2 Tbsp butter

  • 1/4 cup agave or maple syrup

Directions

  • In a medium saucepan, pour the cold water, cinnamon, orange peel, and oats, and boil, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid, about 5 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to low and salt.
  • Add milk, vanilla, agave, or Maple syrup and combine, and let it simmer for five minutes.
  • Remove from the heat, cover, and let stand for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve warm and enjoy with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon
