Ingredients

  • 16 butter lettuce leaves

  • 1 lb. ground pork

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce

  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice

  • 1 Tbsp rice wine vinegar

  • 2 tsp minced or pureed fresh ginger

  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained, and finely chopped

  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped

  • 2 tsp (dark) sesame oil

Directions

  • Rinse whole lettuce leaves with cold tap water and pat dry, being careful not to tear them; set aside.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground pork; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
  • Add ginger and garlic to the same skillet; cook for one minute.
  • Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, and Chinese five-spice until well combined.
  • Add water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil. Combine everything quickly. Turn off the stove. Transfer it to a serving bowl.
  • Arrange lettuce leaves on a serving platter; spoon the mixture in the center. Yum!
