Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp peanut oil (or vegetable oil)

  • 1 lb. chicken tenders, dried by kitchen towel

  • 1/2 green onion about 4 inches long, chopped

  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 Tbsp minced ginger

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced

  • 2 Tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp Five spice

  • 1 can (12 ounces) coca-cola

  • 1 tsp. cornstarch diluted in 3 TBSP cold water (slurry)

  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil

  • 1 Tbsp Sesame seeds

  • Chopped green onion for garnish

Directions

  • Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. When oil is warm, add chicken and cook until the bottom side turns golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Flip it and fry the other side until golden. Stop the heat and transfer the chicken wings to a plate. Set aside. Save the oil.
  • In the same deep skillet add ginger and garlic and stir several times until fragrant. Add bell pepper, light soy sauce and vinegar, five spice, and Coca-Cola and gently stir a few times. Carefully add chicken. Stir a few times to coat with sauce.
  • When the sauce starts to boil, turn to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Add the slurry of cornstarch and water and mix until lightly thickened. Add Sesame oil.
  • Serve warm and garnish with green onion and sesame seeds.
