Indulge in the classic delight of Snickerdoodles with this easy recipe. Cream ½ cup butter, ½ cup shortening, and 1½ cups sugar. Blend in 2 eggs and 2 tsp vanilla. Mix in 2¾ cups flour, 2 tsp cream of tartar, 1 tsp baking soda, and ¼ tsp salt. Roll in a mix of 2 Tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Bake and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup shortening

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp cream of tartar

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • Coating
  • 2 Tbsp white sugar

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Cream together; butter, shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonful into balls.
  • Mix the 2 Tbsp sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
