Tres Leches


  • 1 cup Cake flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 5 whole Eggs, Separated
  • 1 cup Sugar, Divided (3/4 cup and 1/4 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/3 cup whole Milk
  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • 1 can Sweetened, Condensed Milk
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • For the whipped cream topping:
  • 1 pint (2 cups) Heavy whipping cream
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Butter a baking dish 9×13’, preheat oven 350 F.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  3. Beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar for about 5 minutes. Until light, pale and fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla, 1/3 cup milk, and flour mixture. Until incorporated.
  5. In another bowl beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until forming soft peaks.
  6. When form peaks are done add sugar and beat until glossy and stiff peaks.
  7. Gently fold whipped egg whites into the yolks and flour batter.
  8. Poor the batter into the baking dish, smooth/level the top. And into the oven for 30 minutes.
  9. Meanwhile, combine milks: evaporated, condensed, and heavy cream
  10. When the cake comes out the oven allow it to cool down completely.
  11. Once the cake is cool poke it all over with a fork.
  12. Pour the combined milks on top and let the cake soak it all in.
  13. Make whipping cream by beating heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla.
  14. Spread it on top of the Tres Leches and enjoy!

Note: You could garnish it with berries, cinnamon, cocoa powder, pineapple, coconut, caramel. Be creative!
