Arabic Rice – Arroz Árabe


  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ½ cup angel hair pasta, broken in 1 inch pieces
  • 2 Teaspoons garlic paste
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • ½ cup golden raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup coke
  • Salt
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts



  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the pasta and fry until golden brown.
  2. Add the garlic and rice. Stir and add raisins, coke, water, and salt.
  3. Bring to a boil. Put the lid on, lower the heat and cook, undisturbed, for about 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  4. Fluff with a fork. Add the nuts, and serve immediately.
